The KC Chiefs should make some noise this year as a sleeper team, as they have a nice looking run game with speedy Chris Johnson clone (yea I said it) Jamaal Charles, who grabbed his 1st 1k yard season in 9 games as the starter, and their FA signing of Thomas Jones. Jones is expected to see short yardage carries as well as goaline carries, not to mention complimenting Charles’ slash and dash rushing approach. Cassel is not the strongest of QBs, but he gets the job done. Bowe, despite his drama with the coach, is expected to play this season, and he is easily a 1k receiving yards WR and a big redzone threat. Chambers came into his own last year, and should be a good secondary WR. The Chiefs’ intriguing draft pick of Dexter McClussters should serve as an interesting piece for their offense, as he is very elusive. As of now, he is listed as a WR, probably as their slot player. He should serve as a safety net for Cassel on checkdowns and drags. The Offensive line is not worth mentioning, as they gave up ridiculous amounts of sacks.
The defense was atrocious last year, particularly on pass rushing. A pitiful 22 sacks for all of last season is what the Chiefs’ pass D boasts right now. This shouldn’t change this year, as they pretty much have the same players as last year, but the secondary should be solid with Flowers leading the way. Jerrod Page wants to be traded, and I have no clue who their other safeties are, so I’m sure that’s a glaring weakness of the defense. Being in the AFC West does help the Chiefs, as they can actually get 2nd place in this soft divison.
Prediction – 7-9 3rd place in AFC West
