| The offensive line in Madden NFL 09 has improved a great deal compared to year's past. In fact, one could say that the AI of the O-line could be as good as it's ever been in the series. What makes this year's version different you ask? Well, the linemen is this year's game do an exceptional job of recognizing the pressure, then sliding over to make the block before the defender can get to the quarterback most of the time. Take a look at some of the images we took from the trenches below.
| | The running game feels pretty similar to last year, with the exception of a number of amazing new tackle animations that EA's included. Here you can see Kansas City Chiefs' running back Larry Johnson tugging the rock to the outside as his fullback leads the way. |
| | The Pittsburgh Steelers' Chris Kemoeatu prepares to take on a rush from any approaching defender. The look of the stadium and crowd behind really makes this image stand out. |
| | You may see holes in the offensive line in this image, but the linemen react much better in Madden NFL 09 than they ever have. There's no doubt that there's still plenty of heat that defenses will be able to bring this season. However, EA has also given users the ability to call for line protection shifts in addition to the improved offensive line AI. Basically, if your quarterback gets sacked this season it's most likely going to be all your fault. |

| | The Detroit Lions and the Atlanta Falcons step up to the line and get set to prepare for the start of the next play. The graphically overlay at the top of the screen provides the user with the up to date score and situation of the game. |

| | NY Jets' quarterback Chad Pennington provides the playaction fake to running back Thomas Jones. Playaction plays are more dangerous than ever now that the user can make adjustments to the offensive line that can improve the chances of picking up any pressure that may have gotten through in year's past. |

| | Yeah! players are going to have to know schemes to get to the QB this year instead of a glitch. |
