Free Tips Tuesday Episode #2

There is no easy way to tell the difference between zone and man to man defenses in Madden 13 like in years past.  This simple fact left most of the Madden community with major problems developing a scheme on offense.  Instead of calling plays based on whether your opponent is in man to man defense or zone defense, we recommend calling plays based on reading 1 deep safety or 2 deep safeties.  In today’s Free Tips Tuesday episode, we go over a specific play that destroys defenses with 1 deep safety.

Playbook: Miami Dolphins (along with many others)

Formation: Gun Doubles Wing TE

Play: Y Shallow Cross

Madden-School.com Free Tips Tuesday Episode #2

Setup:

  1. Hot route your circle/B receiver to a slant
  2. Hot route your triangle/Y receiver to a streak
  3. Block your running back
  4. Slide protect left

Reads:

  1. Your first read is always your square/X receiver on the post route
  2. If he is covered, look to your tight end on the drag route or your circle/B receiver on the slant

Madden-School.com Pro Tip: Only run this play if you see both cornerbacks playing off the outside receivers and 1 deep safety.  If there are 2 deep safeties and the cornerbacks are in press coverage, audible to a different play like Inside Cross.
