Default What is worse than a guy gambling on a 4th & 8 - on his own 22, early in 2nd quarter?

ANSWER: The guy that waits to see if he stops the conversion b4 he complains! - I hate players who dont play SIM style football and unrealistic 4th down gambles are my personal `pet peeve`- but u have to speak up b4 the conversion! Dont wait to see if u stop him - than complain if you dont! -

OPORTUNIST FOOLS LIKE THIS SHOULD HAND IN THE SIM BADGE AND BE BANNISHED TO THE GM ROOMS!!!! What you need to do in this situation is - push pause and say something to him (via PSN or MIC) before he starts the play!!!... It is possible he is confused over SIM rules or mistaken about what down it is - Inform him of his mistake! (and he can call a timeout and punt)

If u don`t make this objection - I am enclined to possibly even side with the CHZer (WOW! never thought i would say that!) - although his actions are total BS - YOUR SELF SERVING ACTIONS ARE WORSE!

i agree with this also...4th down is a judgement rule. but shouldnt even be considered unless u are on your opponents 40 yardline and ur kicker cant kick a 50 yrd fieldgoal. also if ur losing by 14 in the 4th...i honestly like going for it if im on my opponents 2 or 3 yrdline. if i dnt make it they are stuck at my 3 maybe i can get a saftey 2 points and the ball back. so i mean we will have to come up with a rule but with not alot of exceptions...unless this unless that its ok to go for it in this situation ya kno.

First... I believe there is no crying in football. For me, that means before the play or after it. I don't complain before nor after my opponent does something I deem silly. I keep playing football.

No offense to anyone here, but I'm not looking for anyone's permission to call my plays... Most of the time I punt on 4th down, but sometimes if i'm feeling fiesty I'll go for it on 4th and long in my own territory. When I do I neither care what my opponent thinks, nor what some committee decided, nor whether a real coach would do the same in the same situation. My only concern is "WHAT WOULD I DO IF I WERE COACHING," then I take steps to simulate what I WOULD DO in the given situation.

Sometimes my risk/reward values fall in line with typical SIM style play... Sometimes it doesn't. Outside of that I make my calls based on what I believe will give me the best shot at winning the game. The difference with me and most people is that if I'm stopped after my opponent makes my decision a BAD ONE, I live with the consequences of my decision instead of quitting or trying to D/C. I keep playing until the game is over.

When I do play guys that complain, it only makes me want to make them complain about me more. But only because I'm not a nice guy.

I respect your "STRAIGHT UP - NO BS" mentality - Its admirable... Unfortuunately SIM rules have a grey area to them (what one franchise considers SIM - another franchise MAY NOT) - that is why The Madden Group has SPECIFIC rules that you either agree to follow - and remain a player in good standing within our paticular Group of SIM player or you choose NOT to follow the rules - in this case you can't be part of the group... There is no room to allow for "gut" calls that go outside our SIM rules... We do our best to account for ALL REALISTIC SCENARIOS that will come up in the game - but in the end - youy either accept the rules - or you don't... -

pLS REALIZE - i am Not sayn there is a right or wrong answer - ITS A PERSONAL PREFFERENCE...

Nevertheless - i wish more guys were like you in regards to the "NO BS attitude" u have!!!...

LOL... My "No BS" attitude is a result of years of dedication to becoming the best Madden player I can be. It's a work in progress. Having played random players for 8 years, I've seen all manner of things that drove up my blood pressure. Both NFL legal and not-so-NFL-legal. That being said... I'm a 37 year old man who is 5'6" and 135 lbs, so my Napoleon complex is also a huge factor.

Needless to say, I don't play in many leagues because of my attitude toward the rules. If I can't/won't play by the rules, I simply stay out of the league/tourney. In the past 8 years, I've only played in 2 leagues with rules I deemed suitable for SIM play.

I think I'm unique in that I really don't want my opponent to have any fun. I'd rather he be miserable when we play. And FUN = SIM in some circles.

I got one worse. A guy who can stop a guy for the first three downs, then give up a fourth down conversion on a play he's probably seen before in that game (people who go for it on 4th down don't really have a lot of plays they like to run), and then complain about it after he gets a fourth down conversion :)

Had it happen kinda like that to me. The guy said hey man why are you going for the 2 point conversion. I said look at the score, he informed me my math was wrong. So I kicked the extra point instead.

    Not the same but kinda.

definitely against going for the 4th down conversion when not needed.
