any Sim players wanna play a game and show me the ropes so i can get a feel for it. Just add me as a friend PSN is on the side. I am not a SIM player. I wanted to try to get top 100 and now that i've done that. I want to try to play sim and see if it's nice.
what i know so far is
1. don't use same formation or play all game
2. don't nano
3. don't fake blitz
4. don't go for it on 4th unless it's necessary
that's about it....so let me know if there's more.
Some sim leagues don't want you to playaction pass more then 1 once every 4 downs
not sure really just rules i have seen it.
If you think about the playaction is there to fake the D-backs into thinking it's a run.Maybe that slight pause does something.I never seen it do that but just thinking
Its not just same play or formation. The idea about Sim is really about strategy. It supposed to be like playing the other person. Not playing the game. If your ranked, you probably know how to "Beat" madden. All the ins and outs that can beat all the different coverages. The differences in SIM style is that, audibling down (On O or D) is usually not allowed. Playing Fag D's is strictly forbidden. That doesn't mean you can't be creative in coverage but you its supposed to be like football. I mean how man times do you see a team drop 3 DL's in coverage?
On offense, you will see variety. No Snugs all day long, Trips, Strong close, etc. Not that you can't use those formations. You use them all. You play situational football. You punt. You kick field goals. You play man and zone and use your defensive formations as well. you use the tools that are available but in moderation. Your not showing blitz every down and calling Quarter D against 2 wide on 1st down. You match up against personnel unless the situation really doesnt call for it. No huddle is also limited. We know some teams run it in the NFL but those teams also dont run it all game long.
Thats the difference in Sim/Straight play. In truth its about respect. I dont mean any disrepect to you, but most rankers usually have no respect for their opponent. They will just pour it on and play the same D and run the same 4 plays all game long. I salute them for mastering the game. They shelled out 59 bucks on the game. I just dont see the enjoyment in playing a game and calling the same thing over and over again. Thats why the Sim style always intrigued me.
What you may also find is that many of the people in the Sim Style are older. I myself am 37. I cant really waste my time for an hour if I have someone crappy to play. just being honest.
So good luck and enjoy your games brother.
I played a sim game with peytonmvpmanning and it's a lil tougher than I thought. It was hard to get pressure on him and dallas clark was eating me up. We both threw for over 400 yards. It makes you take a deeper look into your defensive book to try and find things that will work. The nickle strong, strong man was working pretty well but I couldn't keep calling that play. It was pretty tough.
it becomes a challenge. Especially if you play Sim style against someone who doesnt. It will make your sim style that much better. TE's are monsters in this game because they are often matched up against LBs. Thats the strategy. Its finding ways to stop the TE. With Indy's Oline you need to figure a way to get pressure or confuse the person using Manning. Thats where changing zone and man or using combo coverages come into play.
Welcome to the chess matches that are sim football.
Now.... with all that being said. Some sim style is more sim style than others. Subject for another day LOL.
