    Default trouble vs the 1-5-5

I can't seem to run on that D. The sides are pretty well guarded because there's 5 LB and speed is everything when running to the outside. I get hit before I even get 1-2 yards. The only weakness in the 1-5-5 is up the gut, but if my opponent is usering the FS he just runs down and gets by HB. I get 2 press corners on my WRs and another corner on my TE. The FS is usually hovering around the middle and sometimes doubling my TE.

What's the best offense vs this D? I win a lot of games and don't have trouble running the ball, I run about 85% of the time. The only losses I have had are vs this D.

So far here's what I figured about the 1-5-5:
Good for pass rushing (5 LB)
Good for stopping the outside runs
    Good vs short passes
    Weak vs inside runs
    Week vs deep passes

Now when I run inside, sometimes a LB gets through and tackles me. Other times, I get 2 yards then the FS gets me. If I try a deep pass my WR are not fast enough at beating the press, and I usually get sack before anyone is opened. So any recommendations? What is the ultimate best O for this D? (note that one use I played had at DT of 75 and the LB are all around the mid 70s, maybe one LB is at 80, but no real superstars).

Well I guess since they have so many guys standing in the box, I would use more WR's and attack sideline to sideline...

I kill 1-5-5 with counters if you want to run that much. Try labbing some so your prepared for it. Usually big gains

I would try any play that is off tackle. audible your line to block in the OPPOSITE direction that your play is going in.

If I were you, just come out in a 5 wide set and do some slants. If he brings the pressure everyone is on an island defensively, which will make the slants easy to throw.

    Maybe a screen too?

screens are the worst for this formation, too many linebackers. When I do a screen they let the LB in too early and LBs get to the QB nearly instantly. WR screens are ok, but only when they're in zone, but they usually send 4-6 guys at me and man my WRs.

If it's zone an undercenter screen should work fine. The qb drop backs on undercenter screen plays are in one word, ridiculous. Against man just spread the field and do slants and drags.

Quick passes. Flares, swings, angles, all that. Looks for your running back or TE and you'll make yards. If it's 3rd & 8 or more, it's a little trickier. You'll need to figure out the defense and attack based on that. Either way, the 1-5-5 normally implies pressure.

49ers are so nasty with this defense . good press and lbs for days.. hard to beat if they shake it to.. i seem to find flats and stem passes work.. have a flat, slant, stem streak combo on same side to beat. zone or man.. zone blitez mostly dont have flat zones there are holes in yellow zones. man blitez no deep help and the outside lbs are blitzing.. VS SHAKE BLOCK OTHER SIDE OF FORMATION AND THROW IT FAST... WAS LOSS TO IT THE OTHER NIGHT DOWN 21-7 AT HALF.. USED THIS CONCEPT WON 48-28.
