Default Only 5 Plays to Run, Discuss.....

Let's say that you had to play a game with only 5 offensive and 5 defensive plays, name your team and the plays that you would roll with.

Thanks sup3r and cgm, I'm always looking for new ideas. I run with Pitt's O playbook, and am familiar with those plays (with the exception of the hidden hb counter) and am looking forward to checking out the TB and Indy play books.

Truthfully, the TB stuff exposes what is wrong with the game, and I'll admit that. It's the furthest thing from realistic. If you lab the Post Corner route a little bit you might see what I'm talking about ;-) The screen pass is also ridiculously overpowered when you block the RB and drag the FB (audible to get Greg Jennings there; his route running puts the drag at the correct depth). Blue routes releasing to the flats are one of the most annoying things to guard in the entire game, and this "scheme" uses them well.

If you want a better understanding of the sim stuff I posted, check out this article for a real football breakdown. Very interesting stuff! And tbh, Madden actually represents these concepts pretty well.

Holy crap cgm, that link is a wealth of football knowledge and very interesting indeed. I am going to have to get a glass of whiskey, sit back and read that again. Thanks for sharing amigo!

Yep the amazingly simple and effective Colts offense. Smart football has about 4 articles on the colts offense and they are all pretty good. That site in general is a great source of football information though it tends to be more offensively aligned in my experience.

If you would like to look at the defensive side especially pressure then:

that is the site for you.

    Gun bunch z spot
y trial (if we can use formation audibles, id not texans post) from strong close
    gun tight doubles texas cross
ace close y drag (so much you can do with that play)
and I cant just pick one run, either a draw or dive, I like pounding the rock up the middle

    Defense
    Nickle strong sugar blitz
    245 fake sugar
    34 under cover 2 sink
5-2 (forget off hand, the zone version of pinch)
quarters 3 deep for those 4th and long assholes

Hou off pb, always used custom D so i cant really say, a book that had 52 and nickel in it for sure, id adapt to 4-3 I guess

TB's singleback doubles and their gun bunch set is just dirty. I ran that for awhile, but got bored of throwing constant post corners and HB wheels. I know there's other plays and routes, but when it works so good it's like a drug. You gotta keep using it.

Sup3rchuck, I'm checking out the TB sets above, and they look like they would be well suited for the Niners, based on Alex Smith's accuracy issues, with the short to mid range passing options.
