Man defense covers it well, stay out of zone if possible and don't blitz the side he is doing it to.

    contain DE's and/or cover 2.

or you can run whatever play you want and just put your OLB's in flat zones and user your MLB and if you see it coming then run over there for help. but having someone in the flat basically ensures that the screen is being spy'd on. you always know if it's coming because the QB will take a very, very quick drop and the O-line basically runs to that side of the field. just don't go after the QB and instead run in the direction of the O-line.

I use cover 1. It stops both the hb screen and wr screen. If you're caught off guard by it get your ends in some light blue zones and they will typically contain it. But cover 1 is your best option I think

Do not call zones against a screen, man's are your best friend and if you know it's coming grab a linebacker and jump the route.

Man coverage plus a DE or OLB in a flat zone. If I only get one defender in the vicinity of a screen it seems like he always gets blocked. Pay attention to what formations your opponent likes to run his screens out of, because it seems like everyone has a favorite...
