The Detroit MegaTrons….err I mean Lions look to have a very promising year in 2010. Stafford is going to learn from his rookie year last season, and grow stronger from it. Calvin Johnson should have a very solid year, not the breakout year he had in 2008 where he grabbed 1,300 plus yards on about 70 catches. The trade of Scheffler from Broncos to Lions immensely helps the Lions in their passing game, as well as the signing of WR Nate Burleson. Pettigrew is apparently probably not going to be able to play in the 1st regular season game, so it will be up to Scheffler to take off the pressure of Stafford. The Lions’ 1st round pick of Jahvid best really helps out their run game, which wasn’t stellar. Kevin Smith tore his ACL last season, and is still rehabbing from it, so Best should get the bulk of the carries the 1st few weeks. The offense seems like it could be very potent to me, with the speed of Best and Johnson, and the cannon of an arm of Stafford. I can see the Lions just dropping down points left and right, while giving up just as much.
The defense should be vastly improved from last year, as Schwartz picked up some guys he really wanted, such as veteran DE Kyle Vanden Busch. The Lions picked up several key players for their secondary to help bolster the weak pass coverage defense, but with the departure of Ernie Simms (via trade to Eagles) I expect their pass rush to suffer a little bit. Being in the now tough NFC North doesn’t help either, as Green Bay and Minnesota both hold potent offenses, and the Bears can jump into the mix with the hiring of Mike Martz. This should be a much better year for the Lions than last year, but not quite a winning season.
Prediction – 7-9 last place in NFC North

This is so stupid, you don’t know anything about the NFL.
sorry to see that you did not like my article
I have the Lions finishing at 8-8, ahead of the lowly 5-11 Chicago bears for 3rd in the NFC north.
