Cleveland Browns in 2010

The Cleveland Browns have signed FA Jake Delhomme to a 2 year deal. That one sentence alone should say everything for all Browns fans on what to expect from the Browns this season. Despite the Browns signing Delhomme, they do have a few bright spots. Well, actually only one bright spot to be honest with you. Their run game is about to get really nasty! Montarrio Hardesty, the 2nd round pick by the Browns, has been impressive in the OTAs, and most NFL fans know about Jerome Harrison’s eruption the last 3 weeks of the 2009-2010 season, finishing a game with 296 rushing yards! The Browns also acquired Peyton Hillis from the Broncos in exchange for QB Brady Quinn. Hillis had shown signs of being a very strong HB during his time in Denver, and promises to be a very solid FB for the Browns’ ground attack.

Even though the Browns boast a nice plethora of running backs, they really have no one else on offense. Josh Cribbs is very explosive and makes big plays, but not at WR. He will see most of his yardage off Wildcat sets, along with his electrifying KR/PR returns. Their WR core entails of promising young WR Massaquoi, who had a couple 100+ receiving yards games, draft pick Brian Robiskie, Chansi Stuckey acquired from the Braylon Edwards trade, and some other guy that no one really knows. Plain and simple, the Browns will have to depend on their run game, and definitely not on Delhomme’s arm. The offensive line is very solid, which can only improve the run game. Joe Thomas is a top 5 LT, and as long as the offensive line stays healthy (staph infection anyone?) I can see the Browns having a top 10 running game, and possibly pulling out wins just from grinding through the games.

Their defense is non-existent, so let’s ignore them. I literally cannot name any Browns D players other than Shaun Rogers and….uhm……Wright. Sorry Browns fans.

My prediction for the Cleveland Browns? 6-10 last place in the AFC North, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they went 8-8 if they got into close games versus divisional rivals.

im a cleveland browns fan, live in cleveland, and i think that this year will be one of our best years in a while especially with mike holmgren coming into our system and changing our offense and defense. I think the browns will go 8-8 this season and have a chance to compete for the WILD CARD!
