The Redskins will have two top tier receiving tight ends this year, but will they be able to use them effectively? Coming back off a season ending injury is a two time consecutive pro bowler Chris Cooley. Every year Chris is considered in the top 5 of tight ends in football. Last year when Chris Cooley went down for the season many wondered if anyone could step into his shoes. 2nd year tight end Fred Davis not only stepped into his shoes he did extremely well. From week 7 on, Fred Davis caught 48 passes for 509 yards and 6 touchdowns. Every week he seemed to get better and more comfortable in the offense. Week 14 was his best game where he caught two touchdowns. Going into this season you see a lot of teams with two or three running backs but you don’t see many teams with two receiving tight ends. Although off the field the two remain best friends you wonder if that relationship will continue on the field when one tight end is getting a lot more balls thrown his way. Will the Redskins’ newly acquired QB Donovan McNabb be able to creatively come up with sets that feature two receiving tight ends? If so, will this be a new trend in football? But if not, will this cause both tight ends to be upset and cause discourse within the team? Only time will tell
